| paul_hargett's Full Review: Polk R1 Bookshelf Speaker |
As with any college student the majority of us can say that we do not have much money to spend on things other than school. But on the other hand if someone wants to have a great sounding component stereo system one does not need to look far. I have had these Polk R1 bookshelf speakers for several years now. Because they are bookshelf they are designed to be listened to in a small or medium sized room. And that is how big most rooms are in houses - and definitely dorm rooms.
These speakers have pumped out great sound the day that I have got them. This model has a 5 in. woofer and a 2 in. tweeter. While hooked up with a 50 or 60 watt amplifier they really scream! Surprisingly they pump out tremendous bass for their size also. I always have my bass knob turned all they way to "10" with the volume right up there and I still haven't blew the woofer - I doubt that I ever will either! Because these are very well made speakers.
The speaker boxes are wood with a black finish to match the rest of your home system. They stand a little over 1 foot tall that can be placed in any room tight with space. I would recommend these speakers to anyone who is on a tight budget but wants to have a great sounding system.
