Good at what it does...

Pros:size, battery life, reliable receipt of pages
Cons:keyboard is hard to use

I've used sky-tel 1 way pagers and the RIM pagers and here is why this pager has real value.

It is small and receives pages via satellite. My former pager, a RIM, sent and received pages using cell antennas, so receiving was so horribly unreliable, I had to switch. The receiving of pages on the glenayre is very reliably, regardless of where you are located. You cannot always send (reply) to pages, but that is universal with 2-way pagers.

The keyboard is, granted, small, and pales in comparison to the RIM, however, if reliability is a priority, then this is clearly the better choice. Also, it comes with canned replies and saves any replies you send, which does help.

The sending of pages is pretty simple, but it doesn't keep trying, which the RIM does - that is a minus.

Also, it has infrared, which I used nicely with my Pilot to actually send long pages - the software is not free, but it's very slick.

Overall, a very good device, and like I said, it is good at what it does.
