| Kc8aiz's Full Review: EchoStar 2710 Digital Satellite System |
We live in a rural area of West Virginia. To make things worse, we live in a valley where you have to pipe the sunshine in! Before buying the Echo Star 2710 system, we only recieved 2 stations! Channel 5 (WDTV) and Channel 12 (WBOY), both local television stations, were o.k. if you wanted to watch the news or weather, but the only time we saw a movie was on Sunday night. After doing without the luxeries of television for 2 years, we decided enough was enough! That's when we bought the Echo Star 2710.
At first we weren't sure of which dish to go with, since there are so many to choose from. We made a visit to the Blake Center in Bridgeport, West Virginia in hopes to find the perfect reception. Boy did we make the right choice!
I was hooked when I first walked in the door of the store and saw the 2710 in action! We hadn't seen a picture that clear since T.V. was invented, and the dish system set up in the store didn't have the best signal that it possibly could have. Their signal was set at 75% and the picture was so crisp and clear! The audio was perfect and the choice of programming was unbeatable! It was kind of hard to believe we would now have in excess of 100 movie quality channels.
We bought the system and headed home to install it. Yes, we installed it ourselves. Everything was so easy. The free self installation kit included everything that you needed to install the system. The reciever has a built in signal strength bar that beeps while you are trying to locate the satellite at the 119 degree position. When you get the satellite locked at the 119 degree position, the signal bar turns green and the beep turns into a steady high pitched tone to let you know that you have the dish pointed in the right direction. This feature is very nice, especially if you can't see your television while pointing your dish. The entire installation process took us about an hour and included mounting the dish.
With the installation complete, we were ready to order our programming, which was super fast! One call to Dish Network was all it took. They took our information and in 10 minutes we had over 100 channels! Talk about service with a smile! Dish Network has some of the nicest representatives you'll ever meet.
The 2710 is so user friendly! Some of my favorite features are the parental lock out (which gives you various levels of control), the on screen program guide (no more T.V. guides), and the Pay Per View features that allow you to order movies with just the touch of a button. All in all, the 2710 is easy to use, gives you exceptional picture quality, convenient features, and most of all, choices! Now that's what I call television!
