This Aiwa system is worth the money and puts out a very decent sound. Mine has been working without a problem for two years now and find it to be worth the money. The functionality of the system is very good. The dials are easy to read and the selections are easy to make. The only problem I have had is resetting the clock when the power goes out. It takes a moment, but in all, it is not difficult. Just takes time.
The recording abilities on this system are the best of any I have ever had. The clarity of the sound of what is recorded from either cd or tape is excellent. Also, the directions for recording or any other function that this system provides is easy to understand. The Japanese must have hired an American tech writer to make these operating directions understandable to us in this culture.
The radio seems to have a less than okay receiver on it, so I have purchased a small antenna to boost the reception and that works fine. The CD player holds three cd's and it works well. It is a bit noisy as it rotates the discs, but other than that there are no problems with it.
I found that my living area is a problem with sound systems, since I live in a contemporary house with 22' ceilings. So, rather than cranking up the sound as my neighbors do, I have added two Bose speakers to the unit to provide a more dimensional sound.
The Aiwa design is good - better than what Aiwa has done in the past. I like the addition of the wood to the system- it seems to add some character to the look, and makes it look more expensive than the all metal casings.
If there is any part of this system that could use a bit of enhancement it is the speakers. They seem to be the least quality part of the system and do not have the range of sound I might have preferred, thus the Bose speakers have been added.
However, when you go to a store to purchase a system like this today, there are so many noises around, trying to listen carefully to sound quality is something that few stores can really provide.
In all, I find this system to be very functional and reasonably priced.
Everything continues to work as it has and I would buy another one of these in the future.
