The Neo 35 seems to offer the best of all worlds. It is a hard drive based MP-3 player that docks with your PC, docks into a special bay for your car stereo and now with the Neo 45 stereo bay, it also can be used with your home stereo as well.
To begin, the service from SSI America leaves a lot to be desired. Orders take a while to get and the phone service folks (if you can understand them) are less than helpful. Once I overcame that, I received my Neo 35 with a 30GB hard drive and home, car, and PC docks.
Installing the PC dock is no easy feat. The cheap plastic bay feels as though it may break as you slide it into your PC. Be sure you know what you are doing and be sure you have a free IDE connection in your PC.
Once installed, it's easy to load up your Neo 35 with songs. Your PC will see it as a hard drive, so simply drag and drop and you are good to go.
The car bay is fairly simple as well. Just get 12V power to it and either use a cassette adapter or an RCA-in on your car stereo and you are set to listen to tunes in your car. If you don't install the unit in your dash (mine is behind a seat), get the LCD control panel as it repeats the information on the 4 line LCD display.
Overall, the Neo 35 is a great idea, but fell a little short on quality as well as ease of installation. It's a livable solution though and the trade-offs are well worth it.
