I will never watch cable again! If you aren't a couch potato then this little machine will turn you into one. If you can't tell by now I really like my directv system. After years of being screwed by over priced cable companies I can finally put my home entertainment into my own hands. Literally. Calling on the phone to order pay-per-view is now a thing of the past. I can do all that with the remote. It is easier and a lot quicker. But that isn't why DTV is great. It is the 900 channel capability. Allowing for you to watch almost any televised event out there. The DTV sport ticket packages really make owning a system worth it. NFL Sundays are an event at our house where every game is televised. I have also ordered the ESPN basketball package which will provide me with a ton of hoop for those cold boring winter months. The system itself is really nice, the channel change speed is very quick and the capability of the multi room receiver is very handy for my roommates who want a receiver in their rooms.
The only knock I have is the capability of the satellite signal. I live in a wooded area surrounded by trees. My dish receives the signal very faintly, so on windy days when the tree's blow the leaves cause interference which disrupts the signal. When the signal is disrupted the screen freezes. It is a pain but I can live with it because RCA gave us a VHF antenna to use for local programming, it works very well and we get a strong antenna signal for FOX, ABC, NBC and CBS. So when a storm rolls through tie down your dish rent a movie because you may not have a clear signal. If you live in a house surrounded by tree's you may have to chop down some lumber. Trust me it is worth it!
