A few weeks ago, I posted a review of the original Nomad 64MB mp3 player, praising its features and quality, but pointing out a number of crucial design flaws that seemed to be easily fixable. Well, it looks like instead of fixing the flaws in the original player, Creative Labs decided to release the Nomad II product line. You are still limited to 64MB, but now this can be on a single SmartMedia card instead of 32MB SmartMedia and 32MB internal. Future expandibility for other audio formats has been added, although most people will probably only use it as an mp3 player anyway. Basically, it's the same as the previous model, but with the design flaws straightened out. Unfortunately, the Nomad II retails for more than $300 with 64MB of storage included, even more for special colors, and a whopping $400 for the MG version, styled to look just like the original Nomad. My advice is to just deal with the design flaws and buy the original Nomad 64. Places like outpost.com are selling it for $160 brand new, and with a little effort you can find it even cheaper elsewhere.
