Reviews about Amps (Reply to this comment)

I do understand that NOTHING compares to listening to an AMP and determining if it is the best for you. However - I feel that for some of us - specs are important because they help us discern what our ears may not. Sometimes it means helping other consumers understand the basic principle behind amps. This link provided is a start-- http://www.legacyaudio.com/electronics.html.
Also it should be noted that distortion (THD) under 5 to 10% is generally imperceptible. And that powering 8 ohm speakers means that whatever the amp is rated at -- it will be pushing against a greater resistance. In other words a 200W amp can push 200 watts to 1 ohm speakers but only 100 watts to 2 ohms and 50w to 4 ohms speakers and so on. As mentioned Legacy's site is the first I came across that explains these things clearly.
Signal to Noise should be at the top of the list since anything over 100dB means that there is virtually no distortion and that you are hearing as true a reproduction as possible.
In terms of the AMP being cool - I really have nothing to say about that. I would like to add that this is my first time on the site and these happened to be the reviews I read. I am not sure if other people include the specs which they feel helped them make a decision or if it is all "sonic".
In short , I am not here to offend anyone -- but I felt that there are many people (yours truly) who may purchase these items and are blanketed in ignorance as to the many terms thrown about in "high end" audio. While this may not yet be my end of the financial spectrum --(yet)-- I thought I would add this in - as once you start to buy electronic there is always the good -better - best syndrome that starts to gnaw at you.
Anyway - once again - just a few thoughts that the may help people like myself by those who are more discerning and more experienced.
