| Booms729's Full Review: Kenwood XD-A51 Audio Mini System |
I bought this product a year and a half a go after my seventeenth birthday when I saw it on sale for about $240 at Circuit City. I bought it because I only had a small 1 disc, 1 deck, am/fm radio player by Aiwa (valued around $75-100). So obviously, having more CDs and therefore desiring more in a player I picked out this model.
It's got all the basic needs for your novice music fan; 3-disc player (with shuffle, program play), different audio settings (rock, pop, movie, 3d, and custom settings . . .), extra bass button, remote control, dual cassette deck (with dubbing) and 80 watt speakers.
Something like this player would not be the best to use if entertaining a party because of it's slow CD rotation and the speakers tend to get scratchy when you turn up the volume over half the capability. Personally every time I turn for one CD to the next, there is a loud turning when one is going to the next and to the next. The disc changer is very slow. The antenna which was easily broken while my mother was cleaning, did not even function very well when it was new. My stations (the few the antenna picked up) came in fuzzy and unclear which made it useless to turn on the radio.
The knobs and controls are confusing for those who are not familiar with them. The circular knobs while very convenient to turn up or down respond too sensitively to touch. Or if someone is poking around you player and turns the volume just a bit they very well will make a lot more noise.
Despite the VERY minor details, I have had one for my personal use in my bedroom and it's very satisfying. If you like to hear your music and like your extras, it's well worth the buy. It is easy to transport, with one wire connecting each speaker to the main piece and one thin antenna wire . Although if you are big on the precision in bass or treble, and so on this may not be the one for you.
