Pros: It's a Kenwood! And at a steal. And with DTS
Cons: Surround speakers are a little small

Looking for a great surround sound package that won’t set you back in cash. Look no further than here. Sure there are better systems out there, however for the most bang for the buck I would suggest this one. To begin with, I am an avid fan of surround sound. So much, that when going out to a movie, it has to be one equipped with a state of the art sound system. This Kenwood helps me bring that home in this nice package.
Here is what you get:
100 Watts per Channel Amplifier
With: Dolby Pro Logic surround sound
Dolby Digital
DTS Digital Surround (You WAN’T THIS if you have a DVD player!)
Dolby 3 Stereo
Virtual Surround
And Pre-outs for a subwoofer.
SW-32HT Powered Subwoofer
built-in Amplifier: 100 Watts 8” Woofer
Frequency Response: 60Hz - 200Hz
And a center channel speaker, two rear speakers, and your left and right speakers.
I am not sure what the specs are on the surround speakers, however the amp is rated at 100 watts per channel, and at max volume, I get no clipping, so I am guessing at least 100 watts.
Anyway, as for sound, this thing rocks. Just pop in a good VHS, or DVD, and turn the volume up. With the DTS you get 6 Channels of independent surround sound, and let me tell you, that’s the best technology out on the market right now. All this for under $500. If you don’t have surround sound yet, go pick up one of these. You will not regret it.
Another thing I really like about this system is that it even sounds good at lower volumes. I live in a townhouse, with neighbors on both sides, so at times, I don’t want to turn it up all the way. Well even at the lower volumes I don’t loose any of the quality.
Speaking of quality, this is a Kenwood. So I guess that speaks for itself. I have owned many Kenwood products and have never had a problem.
Bottom line is, if you’re looking for an entry-level setup, that can compete with the high-end units (and yes I have heard them) this is the one.
