My husband and I bought our Panasonic CT 27SF36 in late September when my husband decided for no reason I can discern that our tv at that time was not good enough. My husband did all sorts of research for this television, using the internet. He's an electronics freak currently working on our home theater system (although our home theater room is a den that is not very large at all). Anyway, this tv was the one he'd heard the best reviews about that would fit in our home and not exceed our budget.
He found a very good deal on the internet for this television, but did not want to risk damage in shipment. So we went to our trusted furniture store (The Nebraska Furniture Mart here in Omaha) and looked at it. By this time, my husband had pretty much already decided this was the television he wanted. Since we had our 2 month old in tow, I wasn't really caring whether we bought it or not.
It is a heavy tv. Moving up from a 19" to a 27" was a nice step. It was large enough to see a difference, but not so large that we felt over-powered. What I love about this tv is that you can view it from most angles without a distortion. This is nice because we often watch tv while one person sits on the couch and the other is at a 90 degree angle to them using the computer. The tv can be turned so that both people can see the screen clearly. I thought this tv was not supposed to show glare, but at certain angles there is glare from our windows. Another problem is that there is pixelation and sometimes the square screen is crooked and even not lined up at the edge, but an inch in. Actually, the square screen is not right with our Playstation and certain settings on our satellite. However, we brought our television in to be repaired and they found nothing wrong. We exchanged our dish receiver and Playstation, but the problem still occurs. For the most part, the corners and slight pixelation do not bother me, but they do bother my husband.
I think this is a good buy if you are looking for a flat screen tv but cannot afford an expensive one. It's a good step up to 27" from smaller sets.
