Definitely go with the XPlode Mobile ES Line...

Working for Sony, people always ask what I think about our products. Although I want to help out my profit sharing, I refuse to lie to anyone about it. I personally feel that everything Sony makes is high quality stuff...with one exception. I have never liked Sony Car Audio.
Now granted, it is better than the stock system in your car, but if you are going to replace that with a new stereo, don't buy something that is junk compared to similarly priced products. If you are going to spend $200, but an Alpine or a Kenwood deck.
However, I was in Sound Advice about 6 months ago and saw a display for the Xplode equipment and decided to ask the rep about it. What he told me is that the regular Xplode stereos and equipment is pretty much the same as the normal Sony decks that aren't anything special. But he said that the Mobile ES equipment was really high level stuff.
So when I needed a new car stereo (it's easy to cut the top of a Miata and steal the stereo, by the way) I decided to use my Employee Price to purchase a CDXM750. The list price on it is $430, which I would have never paid (even though this deck is worth it) but I got it quite a bit lower than that.
I have had a Kenwood stereo (which was stolen from my first car) and an Alpine stereo (which was just recently stolen from this one...this time I had an alarm on the car and it didn't help) but the Sony deck I have now is by far the best of the three. The anti-skip works better than it did on the others...I can run over Speed Bumps at 60 mph and it won't skip a beat.
I have a friend that has a regular Sony CD deck in his car, and he has nothing but problems with it. It is always ejecting the CDs while it is playing, it skips when he hits any bumps, and the sound just isn't right even though he has a great system with the exception of his stereo.
In general, I would say to stay from the normal line of Sony in-dash CD players, but if you want to pay a little more, definitely get the Xplode Mobile ES line...it's worth the admission price...
