| gootch's Full Review: Hughes Networks D1131 Single LNB DIRECTV System |
I was a little tentative in buying my satellite system since it was my first time. I had just had it with the high prices and limited choice of programming offered by cable companies, so I decided to do it. Boy am I glad I did. I am now paying just as much as I was for cable, but I get many more stations, and the ones I get are the ones I choose to get. That is a big difference obviously. I have never had trouble with the support when I used it, they were always very nice and knowledgeable. After paying the initial money to purchase the system, I must say it is no different from cable in terms of reception, ease of use and cost. The only thing is that I get to watch what I want.
I even set it up myself, without any problem at all. (Though I must say that I was a little hesitant to venture under the house) It took all of about an hour, I think it took that long because I was clueless to start out with. But after I got he hang of it, it was truly a breeze.
Another thing I like is that when you move, it's yours, you take it with you. I recently had two friends move to the same town as I am in now, one had the satellite, he other had PrimeStar. Now, i have nothing against PrimeStar, but this is something that should be considered when trying to choose between buying and renting a dish. My friend with the satellite simply dismantled it, moved, and put it back together at which point he resumed watching watching the same programming he enjoyed before the move.
The other friend did not have to dismantle his PrimeStar of course, but upon arrival here, he was told that he would have to pay some sort of fee for transferring his account or some such bull. That is when he decided he no longer wanted it.
I know that in most cases that situation would never happen, but in that one it did, so it is possible. Just something to think about.
I like the system, and would do it all over, only much sooner, if given the chance again.
