My husband and I bought this TV after years of squinting into a 19inch television. I must admit, I was a little leary about buying such a large, expensive TV that many people have complained about. Most of the complaints revolved around the picture quality from the viewing areas in the room the TV was situated in.
But, once we got it home, set it up, and got it going, I was addicted to video and TV watching like I had been when I was a child. If you like renting movies, and watch A LOT of them, this is worth it. If you watch sports, this is the TV for you, also.
We situated the TV in a corner of the room so that the flat screen could be seen from all points in the living room and we never had a problem with glare or anything.
However, a word of caution, if you have no experience with electronics, make sure you have a professional install your audio equipment. We had the "Theater Pack" given free with the purchase of our TV, but the place we bought it said it was easy and simple to set up. Four speakers, three million cables and cords (ok, so I'm exaggerating, but still...) and a woofer...three hours it took us to hook up and it still didn't sound right. We kept getting a squealing in the right set of speakers. I don't know if they automatically give these "theater packs" with the TVs any more, but if they do, ask someone to come help you set it up, especially if you have a VCR and/or cable box.
Another possible problem you may have with the TV is the front protective panel screen. It is "velcroed" on the front to protect the actual viewing screen, but if you decide to take it off and clean the inner screen (dust gets in there somehow and eventually you will want to clean it) -- be very careful and gentle removing this front panel. It can crack easily if you take it off by a corner. I suggest having someone help you take it off, one of you on each side and removing the velcro only a bit all the way from the outside to the inside areas at the same time. My husband and I tried taking it off one day thinking that it was like "plexi-glass" and thus, unbreakable, and we ended up putting a crack in the center top. This doesn't really interfere with the viewing area much, but it did upset us since these protective screens run for about $150 each.
On the upside, the overall size of the TV isn't as bad as it seems. It is flatter than I thought and doesn't seem to take up that much room, really. I'd never go back to a smaller TV, that's for sure. Once you buy a bigscreen you'll never go back!
