Polaroid PDC-1100

I bought the Polaroid PDC-1100 at KMart. They were offering this $299 for $249 + $50 mail-in rebate. What a deal.
I had a heck of a time hooking the serial cable to both computers at home. I got a new laptop at work and hooked up the USB cable. My worries were over. I also bought a 16MB card for $50. The 4MB card included in the package only held 12 high res pictures.
There are several things I . First, it came with an AC adapter, USB cable, serial cable, and video cable. The video cable allows plugging into a TV, a neat feature for kids. Many cameras make you buy a $20 AC adapter. Second, lots of adjustments are available: 4 levels of resolutions, 4 flash modes, 6 focus modes. Third, the LCD screen is great for reviewing your pictures. Fourth, good review of pictures in single and multiple thumbnails.
Problems: First, the cover on the battery compartment broke the little tabs holding it in. Since the batteries are spring-loaded in, I have to run two stiff rubber bands around the edge of the camera to hold the door shut. Second, several times I push the button and hear the necessary clicks, but no picture was taken. Third, there is no lens cap.
I highly recommend this camera. I can put up with the ribbing for jury-rigging the battery compartment door with rubber bands because of the high quality of the pictures. Be sure to buy rechargable batteries, especially the new ones out now which don't have memory -- meaning you can discharge and recharge them many times without their life reducing. I bought the charger and 12 batteries so I always have three sets of batteries ready to go.
