| BlackCat2's Full Review: Creative Labs Nomad II (64MB) MP3 Player |
I had the chance to borrow this MP3 player for a week and found out that take it or leave it can have two meanings.
Yes you can take it with you on the go but the first disappointing thing I noticed about this player was the lack of a belt clip. You can slip it into a pocket but if you are exercising you may find yourself getting more exercise than you bargained for by stooping to pick it back up. Although for some that may be considered a good thing. <smile>
This player has 64MB of memory for audio and a slot where you can add more memory buy purchasing a SmartMedia card. I found I could get approximately an hour and twenty some odd minutes of music without having the extra memory.
The output is great but the headphones left something to be desired. I have very long fine hair and was forever having pieces of it ripped out by the headphones. Also the sound quality delivered through the headphones that come with this player was less than what I thought it should have been for the price. The sound is excellent otherwise.
With this player comes some software. The software is called Media-Match. All it basically does is catalogue and organize the tracks. I already have software on my PC that does that from when I bought my CD burner.
One feature I found enjoyable was the ability to record. After you record you can transfer it to the computer and edit it. You can even record from the FM tuner. I found the recordings to be good even from this source.
All in all I guess this is a good player if you have the money to spread around. Personally I would look for something else. Something else I should probably mention is that this player is both Mac and PC compatible. I was in a way sorry to return it and alternatively a bit happy to see it go and know I was not out any money. Since I did not pay for it I will put the amount my friend paid for this player.
So take it or leave had two meanings:
1. Take it with you or use it at home.
2. Take it from the store or leave it on the shelf.
