MiniDV Digital Camcorder

Both a camcorder and (relatively) low-rez digital still camera. Records video onto mini-dvs (quite small--2.5x2x.5")and stills onto either mini-dvs or memeroy sticks (really tiny, stick-of-gum size, and holds up to 100+ photos).

Best features are (1) smallness and lightness of camera and media, (2)dual-purpose capability as video or still-camera and (3) really easy xfer of data to a PC using either the memory sticks (which can be read with an adaptor that connects to the serial port) or an IEEE 1394 port. Worst features are its cost (this is a deluxe product but maybe it'll be cheaper by the time you read this) and complexity (optimal target user is an engineer, not an engineer's spouse). It's not much more than half the size of my High 8 recorder which was (like everything else) state of the art a year ago and has now been obsoleted by this unit.
