| pbui2's Full Review: MPTrip MP3-CD Player |
At first, I was turned off on buying the MPTrip because it wasn't produced by a major brand name. However, my brother purchased the item against my advice and I discovered that the player is really incredible for the price. The player plays both CD-Rs and CD-RWs burned with MP3s and has a neat feature of allowing you to record messages.
Having been sold on the item I purchased it for approx. $100.00 from easybuy2000.com. It went downhill from there....
After receiving the package I noticed that the box showed signs that it was open already. When I took out the player everything looked okay and I immediately inserted a Hewlett-Packard CD-RW that my brother was playing on his MPTrip player. No response. My brother and I read the instructions and set it to the proper settings. No response. We swapped the HP CD-RW with an IMATION CD-RW. No response. We thought the unit might be defective, so we inserted some cd-rs and regular cds which all played perfectly. I called the vendor and there response was essentially that there was a chip defect that is common in this player.
I am still incensed that the makers of the MPTRIP (and their vendors) have not informed potential buyers of this manufacturing defect. So good luck to you if you purchase the MPTRIP. Like the title says...it's an incredible buy...IF it works. For me, I think I'm going to pay the extra money and try the Philips Expanium.
