Almost the ultimate home phone

When I'm home, I do a lot of conference calls and important calls with my colleagues and clients. I wanted a phone that I could depend on to make important calls and yet be portable enough that I won't be tied down near the base of the phone.
I tried an AT&T 9301 900 Mhz cordless phone, but was disappointed. First of all, it wasn't digital, so the conversations weren't secure. The range on the phone was rather short, and sometimes when I click on "Talk" to make a call or take a call, the phone would not pick up the line - dead silence. The final straw was when the phone once refused to pick up the line, no matter what I tried. Then I took out the battery, unplugged the base for 10 minutes, and reinstalled everything. That finally worked, but what a hassle!
Fortunately, I received the Sanyo CLT-927A as a gift. I immediately put it to the test. The phone just wowed me in about every way. It is digital spread spectrum, so the calls are almost as secure as a land line.
The cordless handset has a LOUD and Powerful speaker on the back, that makes it a very versatile speaker phone. The microphone is extremely capable, so people rarely guess that I'm on the speaker phone on the handset.
The circuitry is like magic. It never fails to connect with the base to open a line for dialing. It is just about as reliable as a good desk phone. Whenever I need to check my voicemail, call my travel agent, discuss critical business, this is the phone I use. The AT&T 9301 phone is relegated to speaking with annoying telemarketers and a paper weight.
I am very pleasantly surprised by such a quality product from Sanyo. This phone is truly the "Nokia" of cordless home phones.
