| raymond689's Full Review: EchoStar 3720 Dish Network System |
I am a professional installer of satellite systems with over five years of mini-dish experience alone, not to even mention an additional five years with C-band dishes. I purchased a echostar system for my father and professionally installed it for him. Well, after only a week the "smartcard" reader in the receiver stopped reading the computer chip embedded in it (the key to the whole system). Naturally I called to report the problem so it could be corrected. After the RUDE customer service representative took me back to school telling me to do this, and try that, (after I had already told her I was a professional and tried those things already) the problem still existed. I asked her if I could just get another receiver since it was under warranty and she said "NO". I politely asked her why they were not standing behind their warranty and she replied "You must have not known what you were doing when you installed the system" I was a bit shocked at the insult but I replied " I have installed many of the systems and the problem was not with the signal or my installation, simply the card". She informed me that the systems are tested at the factory when they are made. I told her that evidently it was glitch or something. She then had the NERVE to say "No they don't have glitches you are probably too ignorant to operate it correctly" I should have requested a supervisor but I was so angry that the call ended at the SECOND insult. I went outside and removed their junk from my father's house and returned it right then. I reported the incident to the head of DISH NETWORK'S customer department. All he could say is "I'm SORRY" I feel that that was not enough that's why I am writing this professional opinion about DISH NETWORK and EchoStar as a group. Feel free to e-mail me with your own personal stories.Since then I installed a Hughes Directv system (what I have always preferred installing) for my father and he has not had a single problem with the system or the service reps.
