Patience Is the Key.. Wait for the Mambo-X (MP3 CD Player)
Mar 31 '00
Many years have passed since the advent of the mpeg3 layer format. This format is a compression format which can take an audio file on your computer (.wav) and convert it into something 1/10th of the size (.mp3). The audio quality is far better than the .wav format and the new small size allows for gigs and gigs of your favorite songs to be played all in a playlist.
Ok, so what am I babbling about? Well, I've always wished that I could just burn 200-300 mp3's onto a blank cd and then be able to play them in my car cd player or perhaps my discman. Well, Mambo X has finally done this for us! You can record 200-300 mp3's onto a cd, and then be able to play 200-300 mp3's on your Mambo X cd player (200 bucks). What are the benefits of this new audio product? Let's take a look..
Appeals
Well, the mere fact that you can go from listening to perhaps 10-15 songs on your cd to 200-300, that should be enough reason to get one of these players, but there are many more reasons as well. It shows you the title/artist of each song on its LED screen. It's got a 45 minute ESA (electronic shock absorbance), and it is compatible with CD-RW cds (those are cds that you can write to and then rewrite to, which most cd players don't seem to like). This last feature is a great one because now those of you with cd-rw drives can take ONE cd, record 200-300 songs to it, then whenever you want to change the taste of the music, just use the same cd and rewrite an entirely new playlist.
How can this get any better? Well, it also has a playlist capability and a search button, so if you're looking for George Michael's Freedom out of 200 songs, you can do it easily by the search button. Or, if you want to play all 200 songs in a random fashion, that's also a possibility.
Overall
I've checked out this product and I can't say anything but good things about it. It comes with everything you need to get going except for a cd recordable drive. I think it's great that we can jump from 15 songs on a cd to 200 and still get approximately the same quality. The price for this is around 200 dollars which I don't think is very expensive for what it does (remember, when portable cd players came out, they were in the 300 dollar range). I would totally recommend trying this product out, it'll probably be the best 200 dollars you've spent in your life.
