Mar 20 '00
This is my very first camcorder. I have waited quite a few years for the prices to come down but need finally caused me to start shopping. About one year ago I needed the use of a video recorder and borrowed one from a friend. It was a Sony, so when I started shopping Sony was the brand I looked at first.
Shopping
As anyone knows, who have been shopping or buying a video recorder, there are many different brands and models on the market. They have price ranges from $279 to $1400 and more depending on the quality and features you are looking for. Don't get frustrated, take your time and ask questions and take notes. When you've gathered all your information sit down, refer to your notes and make your best informed decision. I did, and it was the Sony CCD-TRV87 Hi8.

Overall
I have only used video camera recorder a couple of times but I have been very pleased with it's performance. The unit is light weight and easy to hold for long periods of time without shaking. The microphone picks up even gentile voices at a good distance (recording in theater). The quality of music is very good when playing on lcd or hooking up to TV. One of my projects is to video record all my belongings in the house for insurance purposes especially the electronics and my comic book collection.
There are better and more expensive on the market, but from what I see the Sony CCD-TRV67 will fulfill my needs and
