| CoralSea's Full Review: EchoStar 2700 Digital Satellite System |
After having suffered with Comcast Cable for the past few years, when it was announced that the satellite companies would be allowed to show local network channels on their systems, my wife and I immediately made the switch over to the DISH network.
The only major complaint I have to make about DISH comes right from when I ordered the system through their 800 Number. I had the misfortune of getting a gentleman who sounded like they had just started with the company. I spent 25 minutes on the phone while this person took my order, checked and rechecked all his entries so he would not get taken to task by his supervisor again. He told this had happened after he messed up before and should have been my clue to get another rep on the phone, but I was once there myself and know how hard it can be when you are new and learning a job. So I stayed with the rep I had so as to not further shake his confidence. (I know, I know, bad move.)
The installation was not a problem for me since my brother had just installed the dish at his house and would help me install mine, so I passed on the free offer to have them send the installation team over for hook up. I did request the free installation kit, but that did not arrive with the rest of the package. So that meant a trip to Home Depot for the cable and Radio Shack for some barrels to connect the dish lines to the existing house hook-ups. It was either that or wait about 2-3 weeks for the kit to come to us. My brother, a friend of his and I had the everything up in about 1 hour 30 mins and the call into DISH to get everything activated went over without a hitch.
We currently have the DISH Network 100 package, local and supersation networks and the Starz/Encore movie package (8 channels) with a 2nd receiver ($4.99/mo extra) and are paying about $2 less than what we had with Comcast. Yet we have about 30 more channels and for the price of ONE Comcast movie channel, we have 8 thru DISH. We have lost the satellite signal only twice (roughly about 10-15 minutes) in the past few months and that was only during the most violent of thunderstorms. Still a heck of a lot better than the cable going out on a more consistent basis for hours during the same types of storms. Plus the few calls that I have had to make to customer service have been handled very well, not like the poor service Comcast would shove down your throats.
Outside of the initial ordering of DISH from their 800 number, my wife and I have had no complaints with DISH.
Recommended:
Yes
Amount Paid (US$): Free after $199 rebate (2nd receiver was an extra $99)
