Not the Best--But Gets the Job Done!
Aug 28 '00
I received this camera from my dear Mother-in-law, whom I am certain would like to see more pictures of her grandbabies.
I am infamous for taking tons of pictures, with a regular 35 MM then....well, there they stay. I never get them developed. I forget, I leave them in the car....or if I do remember to take them in, I forget to pick them up! So, it is not uncommon for me to send out photos
that are up to year old!
One day I received this wonderful gift. My mother-in-law bought me the Polaroid Digital 320. I was just tickled beyond belief. I immediately installed the software (Polaroid Photo-MAX) and began taking pictures of the kids.
The camera itself is a breeze. It has an on/off switch on the side, a delayed timer on the top, a receptacle for the computer port and of course the “snap” button. You simply, like with all other cameras, center your subject(s) in the square and press. It does take an added “nano-second” to “beep” (take the picture) so it is a good idea to have people begin saying “cheese” BEFORE you actually press the button. :) Been there....Done That.
Now the software has a bit of a glitch in it....at least in my “non-computer-expert” opinion. I am not certain as to what the actual glitch is....but I get as far as trying to “download” the digital images onto the computer and it all freezes up. To get out of the program I do the famous three finger salute...Ctrl, Alt, Del....and start over. If I am lucky it won’t happen again.
I am not lucky.
So, I have had to uninstall the program completely, shut down the computer, reboot and completely reinstall three times to actually retrieve the photos from the camera.
Now, I will add that this is the ONLY problem I have had. Editing the photos once they have been downloaded is no problem at all.
The steps are clear and simple although there are several things I simply would not use. To what benefit is it for me to take a photo of my children then “scramble” it on purpose? In addition to brightness, contrast and the normal “photo-edit” do-hickies, there are things
like, 3-D, wavy, cartoon, etc. Plus, there is a section for Fantasy Photos. This actually is a little fun. I haven’t sent any, but my kids and I have a good time placing their faces into
the bodies of athletes, actors, fishermen, babies and many others selections. It’s good for a nice giggle if nothing else. : )
So all in all, it is a nice little camera. I am certain that there are many nicer ones out there but I also am sure that this one won’t throw your pocketbook into a tailspin. If you want something that can simply "get the job done" and have no need for the "best", then this digital is the one for you. : )
Thanks for Reading!
