| clydem's Full Review: RCA DS2232ND Dual LNB DIRECTV System |
Well I got tired of paying for cable and not getting that many channels for the price and the quality of picture and sound. It would go out for 2 to 3 hours and 2 to as many as 5 time a month. So I decided to look into DirecTV Satellite. I found a deal on Roxy.com were you got two receivers and the dish . So I ordered it . It was the DSS RCA DS2232RD with the free self install kit and a second receiver of a HUGHES HIRD-D11.
When it came I decided to installed it on the weekend. The wife and I started at 10:00 AM on Saturday. We had to find were we wanted to install the dish so there would be nothing in the line of sight . We installed the dish and ran the cables into the house. We connected it to the receiver and turned it on to find the satellite. Once it was aliened with the satellite and the signal strength was at 94 we called DirecTV and gave them the information that they needed and had it turned on and it was now 1:30 PM. This was just for the RCA DS2232RD which we have in the living room. The second receiver took a hour to run the cable and get it turned on.
The picture was so clear and the sound was unbelievable. It made me wonder why I had waited so long. It has easy to use menus to set it up the way you want and a on screen guide to see what is on. We got the NFL Sunday ticket which gives you all the Sunday games. For being a new subscriber and getting the NFL Sunday ticket they gave us three months of free Total Choice Platinum which is all the channels.
I have read some of the other reviews that have said about losing the signal during a rain storm but we have had it since August and we have had some heavy rain storms here and never lost the signal once and we just had 6 inches of snow fall and there was 2 inches on the dish and the signal dropped to 85 but didn’t lose the signal. I turn it off during a
thunderstorm with lightning so don’t know what it does then.
If you are handy with tools and can read a compass then installing it yourself is easy. If you are not then have it installed.
The only draw back is that you don’t get local channels unless you have a TV antenna . All though that is changing for some people but not for us . They are not planning on having local channels were I live but we have a antenna on the roof .
