| starbucks's Full Review: Creek 4330 Stereo Amplifier |
I had been on the hunt for a quality integrated and had trouble finding the open sound stage and clarity that I was looking for. One audio dealer had many of the brands on my list including, Classe, Arcam, and the Creek. When I went into the sound room I observed the salesman using the Creek to demo speakers in many price ranges. I thought that it was odd that he would be using such a little amp for this task and later asked why, especially since he had more expensive separates in the same room. He said, "because it is the best sounding amp in the room".
Well he was right. I bought the amp and have been hard pressed to find anything better. I have PSB Goldi's which can take a lot of power but, when compared to many other amps, this little amp shines with the supposedly 40 watts. The sound stage, imaging, bass, detail, and just shear musicality are amazing. Much of the great sound, I think, is attributed to the fact that it is a passive design.
Now, I listen to Jazz, Classical, Country, Rock, you name it (except rap) and this amp will let you hear things you never knew were on the source. I have a Rega turntable and the vinyl copy of the soundtrack to Glory is breathtaking on this amp.
If you can find a dealer that will let you audition this amp at home, I think you will be amazed. A great product !
