Philips CD785 3 CD Changer/Recorder

The Bottom Line I have had this unit for over a year and I think I have made 2 or 3 bad discs out of several 100s. Still Recommended!
I just bought the Philips 785 3 CD changer last week and I have been very satisfied with the results. I bought this unit for the main purpose of transferring my analog concert tape collection to CDR for trading. The analog converter does a great job on the transfer and the ease of copying CDs makes for smooth operation. The ability to stop the recording within 3 seconds of recording if an error is made comes in handy with the tape to CD operation. I am using an Audio Control EQ between the tape deck and the 785 and the sound on the CDs is great. I have made several greatest hits CDs from the Cd changer to the burner without problem. One big plus is the line-in mic input on the front of the unit with level control and a solid headphone jack (gold plated) on the front with a volume control. The unit will also make an analog copy of copyrighted CDs (ie., a digital copy of a digital copy) instead of refusing to record (like some units). I have not been able to tell the difference in sound between an analog copy and the digital copy.
I would easily recommend this unit to anyone looking for a cool 3 CD changer and a solid CD recorder. I got mine at Circuit City for $449 after the $30 Philips rebate and 30 free CDRs. Plus, no interest until 2002. Great deal.
One word of caution, please read the manual, as this is a very technical piece of stereo equipment. It took me a day or two to feel totally comfortable. Also, you will want a CDR(W) to test your sounds without wasting a CDR or two.
