| aaronu's Full Review: Infinity Overture 1 Bookshelf Speaker |
These little dudes are no bigger than a five inch stack of LP's. You would never believe that if you heard them. I first evaluated them side by side with some Infinity RS-10's and Polk RT1000's. They sounded weak in comparison and I very nearly bought something else. I moved the speakers around a bit and they really came to life. Talk about speakers sensitive to placement. If you buy them to shove on a small shelf, you may be disappointed. Buy the optional speaker stands. These speakers offer clean midrange and more bass than you could ever hope for in a small speaker. The bass puts a lot of dedicated subwoofers to shame. Each speaker has a dedicated 150 watt amp for the 8 inch woofer. This means that your amp will not be working overtime to drive the low frequencies. I have one complaint for these speakers. The subwoofer amplifier will shut down if there is no input signal. There is a barely audible "click" when the amp detects a signal. Playing a movie at low volume can fool the amp into turning off & on, especially for surround speakers. The occasional click WILL become annoying after a while. I understand that Infinity has some sort of add-on device that fixes the problem.
