| Marechal_Ney's Full Review: Nokia 3210 GSM Cellular Phone |
A year ago, I signed my first mobile phone contract, which included ownership of a Nokia 3210. Now, as I have already renewed my contract and am on the verge of receiving a new, more advanced Siemens phone, I would like to take this opportunity to write a small tribute to the phone that has served me extremely well over the last 12 months.
Features wise, it is not that much different from earlier Nokia phones. A few added bonuses include the ability to compose your own ringtones: useful as I am quite music-minded, and there is nothing like putting together your own interpretations of various favorite songs. Fair enough, there is always the internet, a treasure trove of Nokia ringtones that can often be sent to your phone for free. However, their quality is often dubious at best (i.e. hardly recognizable), and you might not even be able to find a personal favorite. Hence the Composer.
The phone's shape is a great improvement over earlier Nokias. More streamlined, far less bulky, it tends to fit easier into your pocket. The buttons no longer stick out as much, and no longer look like they are about to fall out of the case.
Where the phone really scores high, though, is in its durability. The case is well put together, and the screen quite tough. The amount of times the phone has been in my pocket after a night at the local pub is testimony to this. I must have fallen on top of it a score of times, never mind dropping the thing. After all that, the screen is still intact, with not a crack to be seen, and the whole contraption works as good as ever.
There was even a time when I left it out in very heavy rain by mistake, without any plastic cover whatsoever. It was absolutely drenched when I eventually recovered it, and completely malfunctional - or so I thought. I gave it up for dead, but was pleasantly shocked when, by about eight hours later, it was working again. Now that's water-proof for you!
If you're looking for a durable, functional phone with enough features to meet your daily needs, then I would strongly recommend the Nokia 3210. A bit outdated these days, but it is cheap, and I am sure still more than sufficient for the casual user.
