Simple and Effective (MDS-JE520)

To get a better perspective as to where this epinion is coming from, you have to understand that this player was given to me as a gift, so it is not as though i was looking at all of the other models on the market.
However, with this being said, i have been more than happy with the performance and the features that the je529 has. It is extremely versatile: i have connected it directly to my computer, and with a decent sound card, you can copy and edit music that you download from the internet. Although somewhat tedious, the labeling and editing features are good--the remote control is a decent enough size so that even someone like me, with big fat fingers can type out text. It would be nice if they could devise some way that editing and typing can be accomplished from the computer, but i guess i'm still dreaming. Another wonderful thing you can do is use it to convert old cassette tapes that you don't want to get rid of. Amazingly, the quality of these copies is surprisingly clear.
The digital recording level memory, cd synch, and other features are not only a great advancement, but don't prevent you from becoming proficient in using the system. Newer models are out by now, but chances are, the lower price of the je259 makes this model an excellent deal for all that it provides for you. Enjoy...
