| Tess131's Full Review: Hughes Networks D1132 Single LNB DIRECTV System |
We purchased our Direct TV satellite system about six months ago. I can't remember life without it!
I love the onscreen program guide. It is so convenient to be able to press a button and see what channel you are on, what you are watching, and what's coming up next. It's a couch-potato dream! With so many channels, browsing is so much simpler from the onscreen guide than from any newspaper guide.
I really like the clarity of the service, too, but I have to admit that I sometimes get interruptions during really bad weather. In the time that we've had our dish, we've lost service twice due to weather. Both losses occurred right in the middle of a movie we were watching! It was really inconvenient.
But except for the weather interruptions, I have nothing but praise for the direct TV system. The true selling point for me is the Direct TV pay-per-view system. I have two small children and renting movies is difficult at best. To go to the corner store and rent a movie, first I have to find time to get my boys bundled up and in the car. Then I drive to the rental store. If both boys are well behaved enough for me to browse and find a title I like, then I take it home and watch it. The next day I've got to rewind it, and repeat the hassle of getting my boys in the car to go return it. I used to pay so much money in late fees!
But with Direct Ticket, the process is so much simpler! I choose the movie I want to watch, press a few buttons, and watch my movie right then. I don't have to leave the house or even change out of my pajamas! The charge shows up on my monthly bill, so I don't even have to have the cash for the movie right then. In addition, many of the movies are "All Day Ticket". So if something happens and I have to miss part of my movie, I can watch it again, without charge, the same day.
In my area, the direct TV package prices are comparable to regular cable. But there are so many more benefits to the direct TV that I'd never do cable again.
