Don't, unless you're a professional.

The best advice I an give a person thinking about installing his or her own speakers into their car is...don't. You may think this is a little hasty at first, but let me try and back it up with some facts.
A few years ago I bought a couple of Rockford Fosgate 12 inch subwoofers from a friend of mine. We decided that we would hook them up one weekend. Neither of us really knew what we were doing, so we called another guy who had hooked up all of the speakers in his car and they sounded great (or so we thought). We got finished hooking them up and we turned it on and guess what we heard. The music sounded great. The only problem I could find is that there were quite a few wires hanging out behind my back seats.
A couple of years later, I got a better job while I was in college and decided to get the speakers hooked up professionally when I bought my Kenwood CD changer. I couldn't believe my ears when I got into my car and turned on the stereo. I was listening to the same tape I had in before I brought the car in, but it was completely different. The sound was so much clearer and louder and better.
I would recommend getting any speakers professionally installed to get the best sound quality. If you buy them new from a car audio store, they will typically install them speakers for free since you bought the speakers from them.
A trained professional installer will make things much better and you will get much more enjoyment from your music.
