| viran's Full Review: Audiovox CDM4000 |
I've used this phone intensely for about a year(avg. 1000 min/month) and it's great value for the money! It's slim so you can keep it in your pocket (unlike some of the thick Nokia phones some of my corporate friends own), and it's very light. It may not be the smallest phone out there, but if you're a heavy user like myself (I've actually cut the cord and do not have a land-line) anything smaller will be extremely painful to hold to your ear for more than 20 minutes. Cell phones are too small to prop against your shoulder unless you want a permanently horizontally neck, and it's nice to be able to hold the phone up to your ear with more than two fingers.
It's extremely robust too. It travels around in tight jeans, has been dropped on hard floors, rocks, etc and is none the worse for it. I've noticed that the glass covering on the display on Nokia phones tend to crack very easily, but the audiovox has never given me any problems.
Sensitivity is also a strong point for this phone. I remember being underground at Port Authority in Manhattan, and my friends' much more expensive Nokias would loose reception whereas I had almost a third of full signal strength.
It also has a fairly loud ringer and sensitive mic. The standby time is excellent in digital areas, and talk time is ok at about 2 to 3 hours. My only regret is that it doesn't have a vibrate feature, but you can switch it into single-beep alert mode.
I would highly recommend this phone, especially as a lot of phone companies (mine is Verizon) give a hefty subsidy on it with a yearly contract (I paid about $30 for it).

Yes
