I purchased a SD-K310 over the summer because it was a real bargin. For only $350 I got a rare model that includes DVD/VCD/CD and even karaoke features. Yet the machine turned out to be a great disappointment. All the functions are quite complicated, far beyond any beginner could manage. While the machine plays DVDs at excellent quality from picture to sound, it hardly plays any VCD at all. And when I approached Toshiba for service, they plainly replied saying, "the machine should play all DVDs and only some VCDs because they are regionally coded and many VCDs are defective." What a joke! Not only did Toshiba shirked the responsibility of fixing defects of their machine, they also made fools of consumers by replying in such manner. When has anyone heard of regional coded VCDs? Besides, I can even view the VCDs on my PC through the CD-ROM ... so does that make my CD-ROM defective because it can play the VCDs while the DVD machine wouldn't? This experience with Toshiba is very unpleasant and it will definitely terminate all interest of mine from purchasing their products any further. If you are looking for a DVD machine, just don't get this one!
