I originally purchased this product due to its compact size in comparison to older style camcorders.I found the camera with its various features very easy to use and enjoyable.The infolithium batteries far surpassed the older style batteries in being lighter,longer lasting and has not lost any power/duration time due to frequent charging.I've had it over a year.I found it fantastic for day trips with its 72x zoom lense which can get you in close and its color monitor which swivels.This enables you to hold the camera over a crowd to record and SEE whats going on.It has easy to use features to adjust for sun,shade,lights,wind noise and a few fancy items such as fade,mozaics,stripes which allow you to spice up your video between scenes.For those late night excursions it has nite shot which can be used up to about ten feet and with an accessory attachment 100 ft or so.This feature views in an "infra red" style color because it casts no visible light.Great for nature shots where you don't wish to disturb the subject or the attachment has traditional lighting.the laser link which will connect to your vcr with another accessory works well however wire connections may be just as easy..Other accessories are available besides those mentioned such as lenses,filters,microphones etc.I believe you'll find the handycam stlye camcorders a great package
