Aiwa NSX Product Family

I bought a mini-compo in the Aiwa NSX series about two years ago. I had wanted to buy a JVC mini-compo but the shop assistant convinced me that for the same amount of money, the Aiwa was a better buy. He played the same disk on the Aiwa and the JVC and I was impressed by the solid bass that the Aiwa produced.
When I hooked it up at home I was not disappointed. The sound was indeed very good and the mini-compo had a auxilary input that allowed me to amplify the sound from my small TV which, together with the fact that the speakers were detachable, allowed me to get rather good sound and stereo effect. I liked the preset equalizer effects the mini-compo had --- theater, pop, classic, jazz and so on.
But then things began to go wrong. First the double deck audio cassette player began to give trouble. The sound level of the recorded music deteriorated on playback. Then one of the decks refused to work. So I gave up recording and playing back music.
Then the CD player refused to spin CDs. At first it was intermittent. Then one day it seized up.
Then the auxilary inputs refused to accept signals from the TV and finally the radio died.
All this happened slightly a year after it was purchased.
My conclusion. Aiwa does not make products to last.
