The Rotel RSX-965 is hands down the best receiver in the $1200 range. Not only that, it is much better than most receiver more than twice its price. Every single part used in the construction of this receiver is top of the line. To test for yourself, you'll find every time that the Rotel will destroy all competition when it comes to music. It edges out the competition in home theater, but the difference is not as dramatic because there is too much going on in hometheater to be able to concentrate and discern. The reason the Rotel kills competition is due to all the high grade components and particularly due to the internal engineering and design. In Japanese engineered units, you will find the left and right channels are combined as soon as they enter the board inside the unit. This, of course, leads to channel bleeding and inferior sound when attempting to separate the sound again to play to the speakers. The Rotel not only keep the channels completely separate, they are on two completely different boards. This leads to superior channel separation and clarity. The Rotel is also stable down to a staggering 1 ohm without any current curtailing, so it can handle the most rigorous demands from any speakers. All ends of the listening spectrum are producing flawlessly. The receiver sounds much more like separates than a receiver and is unparalleled in competition. The receiver has DTS and AC-3 built into it with 5.1 channel inputs for future technology. It also has a plethora of inputs and has preouts for all channels. For those that truly care about sound, you can do no better in receivers than the Rotel RSX-965. Compare it with others, and see for yourself.
