Good headphone Amp

If you have never used a headphone amplifier on the output of your computer or walkman, you are in for a surprise. The Airhead not only gives you higher volume level (very nice in noisy environments such as airplans) but also improves the overall audio quality. You will get much better bass along with warmer, more detailed sound. The less efficient your headphone is, the more difference this amp makes. I use it with my Koss PortaPro and the overall quality that I get is just short of amazing.
The down sides are two: the device is fairly noisy if you turn up the level beyond its mid point. The LM324 OpAmps used this are simply not known for their quiet performance. The second problem is minor but has to do with the interconnect cable. While it is extremely high quality, it is unusually thick and inflexible, making it hard to situate the amp properly so that you can adjust its controls. Trying to use this set up with my laptop on the airplane was especially annoying with the amp constantly falling off the side.
