I have had my satellite for 5 years and will never go back to cable. The greatest thing about DirecTV is the selection. I am currently using the Select Choice package which includes three ESPN channels, USA, TNT, History Channel, ZDTV (very cool), 3 Disney channels and too many more to list. I pay around 30 bucks for this package which offers a heck of alot more than cable.
Sports Package is kind of cool, but not really worth it. If you are a college football nut, like me, you want to see as many games during the season as possible. The Sports Package allows you to see the same game on about 4 billion different channels. Not too cool unless you are REALLY into that game. ESPN and ESPN2 plus network tv will get you through the season.
Another cool feature of DirecTV are the All Day Ticket movies. If you buy a ppv movie you can watch it anytime within 24 hours. So if your brother calls in the middle of the movie you can flip to another channel which staggers the show time and pick up where you left off.
But if you have kids you'll know the lyrics to every Toon Disney theme song ever made!
Customer service and tech support at DirecTV used to be easier to get a hold of, but when you do finally reach them it's not like pulling teeth to get what you want.
In all, a very economical and feature-rich product.
