Some problems here...

We bought this setup late this summer. Ten days later the remote quit working, and it took me a solid hour on the telephone to Dish Network to determine that I could return it to the store where we bought it to exchange it for another one. We lose signal regularly when it rains. I have trouble sleeping through the night but more often than not, when I turn the satellite on it's already in the process of acquiring signal, and there is no way to watch anything until it's finished. This has even happened first thing in the morning, when I want to watch the news. All I can do is shut off the TV and wait. There is no indicator telling how much longer the process will take, so I never know when to try again. While I don't use the WebTV feature, I have many friends who do; I have heard time and again that there are certain internet features they can't access using WebTV, but haven't verified this personally. The wireless keyboard is a handy feature, however. There is a bright light on the front of the receiver, which I have covered with a piece of duct tape so that I can have a dark bedroom. The hard drive within the receiver makes a high-pitched whine noise that can be distracting in a quiet room, and the only way to silence it is to turn off the receiver. You can't place anything on top of the receiver to muffle it, or it will interfere with the cooling fan which vents through the top. On the flip side, the remote fits nicely into the hand and has the buttons conveniently placed, with some buttons different shapes to make for easy operation in the dark. Also, the security features that allow locking out objectionable channels is a big plus. The picture seems to be clearer than the service we had before, too.
