I have been with Houston Cellular for over 3 years now. I started out with a contract as a school district employee. I thought the rates were very good. Every so often would even get an offer for free week-end calls. And that was mainly when I used it.
When I got my cellular phone-through Houston Cellular, as well, I used it for emergency and necessary calls only.
About a year ago I got an offer in the mail that was even better than the one I had. For $20.00 I got 90 minutes free call time--if you go over the rates are high-but 90 minutes is a lot for me --so far any way. I, also, got call waiting and Caller ID with this same rate. AND free long distance. As long as I stay within the 90 minutes.
I have found this a great deal and have not gone over the 90 minutes and have used it a few times for long distance purposes. I also like having the Caller ID, not used the call waiting except to check it out and making sure it worked. When I did this it was not working I called a rep and the service was not turned on was done right then and she helped me test it.
I do find I use my service more than for emergencies and necessary calls now. Like calling my 2 kids and saying I am on my way home clean up the kitchen!
Only problem I have encounter with the service is when making a call to the customer service department there is always a long wait for help. But, I have only had to call a few times.
