Sony CCD TRV40

Although this is an older product, I just got it and am amazed at the lasting quality of this Handycam. I had an old camcorder -- one of the fullsize 500lb models (not really, but it sure felt like it after 30 minutes or so of taping). My old dinosaur was a Sony and I was pleased with it and even though it is now 10 years old, it still works great. BUT I wanted something smaller and manageable. I scouted around eBay and found this great little CCD-TRV40 for sale at a very reasonable price and bought it. It is nearly 5 years old now, but the quality is still excellent.
I have taped about 2 hours on this unit now and am thrilled with the results. It has an abundance of features, particularly when you consider that it was one of the first of its kind years ago. This model comes with a generous 3" LCD screen, 7 built in effect modes, built-in titles, backlighting, low lux filming capability, and easy to reach and use controls. To me, there is nothing more frustrating than having to take your eyes off the action you are filming to try and find the button you need. These buttons were well thought out and well placed. It is so easy to take along on outings and whip it out to film little segments of the day. For in-home usage, the adapter snaps right on the back where the battery unit goes, so you can film birthdays and so forth without draining your batteries.
As I said, this is an older unit, and probably not available in the stores now, but the TRV43 and TRV46 models are later generations of this unit. This model cost $1200 new, but of course, times change. My lasting impression, after using this unit, is one of favor toward the Sony name in Camcorders.

About Me: I am hopelessly impulsive. I admit it.
