Sony FM-AM Stereo Receiver- Part 3 (last but definitely not the least)

This is the last of a three part opinion on my Sony Stereo System. I have wrote about the Sony Compact Disc Player CDP-CE335, the Sony Stereo TC-WE305 Dual Cassette Deck and now I am going to write about the Sony FM-AM Stereo Receiver STR-De635.

Now that I am writing my final opinion on this whole Sony Stereo, I would like to sum up how much I love this entire system. A lot of times, it takes me a very long time to learn how to use electronics. And half the time, if it takes me too long, I usually just end up giving up and don't use it at all. Well, I have not had that problem with this system. Each part of this system and (especially this receiver) has been so easy and convenient to operate that even my 10 year old son has learned how to use it. That would have to be my biggest Pro to this system, that you don't have to be an Electrical Engineer to figure out how to make it work. It is simple and requires nothing more than going over the Owners Manuel once to figure out what and where everything is.

As far as the sound goes, I think for this system the SONY name speaks for itself. All the music I have played on this system from the radio, tape deck and CD have come out with a crisp clean sound that I have always known and stood behind with any SONY Product.

Lets take a look at how this receiver works.

Components- This control panel is located in the middle of the System with 8 buttons.

•Video 1- VCR
•Video 2- VCR
•DVN/LD- DVD or LD Player
•TV/SAT- TV or Satellite tuner
•MD/TAPE- MD or Tape Deck
•CD- CD Player
•TUNER- Built in Turner
•PHONO- Turntable

This is very simple and easy to use. All you do is press on one of the above named buttons, depending on which component you want to use. (There is also a display button and a dimmer button located to the left of the components panel. All you do to work the display button is to press it repeatedly to change the information on the display menu. You just keep clicking till you find what you want. Then by pressing the dimmer button you can adjust the brightness of the display panel.)

Speakers-
To the far left of your receiver there is button labeled Speakers. This is where you can set your speakers. There are 4 options:
•A- You select A if you want to use the FRONT SPEAKERS A terminals.
•B- You select B if you want to use the FRONT SPEAKERS B terminals.
•A+B- You select A+B if you want to use both the FRONT SPEAKERS A and B terminals.
•OFF- No speaker Output.

Again this function is very straight forward. You select what you want and click it on.

Input Mode-
You use this button to select the input mode for your DVD or LD Player. This is just a simple press button. All you do is press on it. Each press switches the input mode of the currently selected component.

Mute-
This receiver has a muting button. It is located to the far right of your receiver. Just press to mute and press again to take mute off. (A little red light will light up above the button when it is set on mute.)

Sound Field-
This is the button you use to turn on surround sound. This has three selections:
• A.F.D. button/ indicator- You press this to set the receiver to automatically detect the type of audio signal being input.
• MODE button/indicator- This is to activate the sound field selection mode
• 2CH buttone/indicator- Press this if you want to output sound from only the front (left/right) speakers.

MULTI CHANNEL DECODING indicator-
This button lights up when the unit is decoding signals recorded in a multi channel format.

BASS BOOST button-
This button adjusts the bass of the front speakers.

EQUALIZER button-
This turns the equalizer off and on. Once on, you can adjust the equalizer to your preference.

Remote Control-
All the above functions can be operated from one simple remote control. We use this all the time. It is very simple and saves you from always having to run over and switch something.

This was the most expensive part of my entire system. I paid $299.00 for this at Sears. I feel it is more than worth the price I paid. You get a beautiful receiver, with awesome quality and sound and is so simple to use that the whole family can operate it. I couldn't have asked for anything more in a system. It has been over a year since we purchased our Sony stereo and we are very pleased with it. I would definitely recommend this entire Sony System to any family member, friend, or consumer in the market. I give it a 4 star rating!!!
