This is one of the best sounding integrated amplifier/DSP that I've heard lately. It definitely sounds better than my RXV-995 that I have in my bedroom. The 3090 is used primarily for music (although it may be used for Home Theatre applications later), which it is suited wonderfully for. I got this as a gift for Christmas since I didn't need another Home Theater Receiver, but wanted a nice integrated amplifier for music and perhaps something else later. The only thing that this unit lack are DTS and 5.1 inputs (again, I don't really use it for that purpose but wound be nice to have). I guess I could of asked for the DSP-A1 but than that would be way more money and, as I heard for some reviewers, less musically sounding. If you want a simple, solid build integrated amplifier with DD (at least you can use the Dolby Digital for Satellite), an outrageous number of surround sound fields, than this is one of the best deals around for under $1000. There may be other receiver out there with more power and perks (DTS), but than you wouldn't get this kind of quality (it is an integrated amplifier, not a receiver!) for the same amount of price/performance ratio. Enjoy.
