| mike_d_pgh's Full Review: Pioneer CDX-FM1257 Car CD Changer |
I purchased this CD changer about a year ago for a car that I purchased that had no factory CD player, and the design of the factory stereo receiver made it impossible to install an in-dash CD receiver without it looking horrible. I inquired about an add on CD changer from a Lexus dealership, and the price was 1300.00 for a six-disk changer.....not including installation.
I opted to purchase the Pioneer based on price, features, and the comparison specs on other similar models.
I had the unit professionally installed in my trunk for $50.00. The display unit is very small and unobtrusive compared to other units, and the extremely small wireless remote is a great feature.
The sound quality of the unit is excellent. The sound quality is better than any FM-modulated CD changer that I have ever heard. It rivals the sound of many factory CD players.
I would recommend this unit to anybody with a leased vehicle, or anybody that does not want to change the factory receiver but doesn't want to pay 4 times as much for a factory changer that probably has poorer sound quality than this unit.
