The reason I bought this amp was a little complicated. I love the tube sound. It is just warmer than the transistor amps I've had before. My speakers sounds better on tube amp anyways, because they have such a low efficiency and burns lots of power. It's LS 3/5a BTW, just FYI. When my old tube amp died, I had to look for a new one. I liked the EL 34 sound and I came to this unit. After auditioning it for a while I took the plunge and bought it. It was cheap enough and sounds good on my amp.
Well, after having it for almost 5 years now, I can tell you that the sound is definitely warm. I've never heard it clip. I have nothing to complain about. The instruction is clear and if you ever change tubes the unit is easy enough to bias. No hissing in my experience either.
When you listen to a clean female vocal on this amp, you will fall in love with it. Kind of a laid back mid-range, but definitely catches your attention. Again, very clean sound.
It is a great entry level tube amp. I wish they put in a phono stage, but that is quite a big deal. Otherwise for the price it is a great tube amp.
If you only care about how the music sounds, and you don't need the volume, this is a great tube amp.
