| johneklund's Full Review: America's Top 100 CD |
When I bought my new house fresh out of college, I contemplated about whether to get cable or a satellite system. The satellite systems looked really good, but cable's been around forever.
The world loves an early adopter, so I decided to go with Dish Network.
I've been using the Dish Network for about 18 months now and have been nothing but pleased with it. America's Top 100 package gives you 100 channels plus 30 music channels for the same charge as cable. You get 4 different ESPN stations, all your big names such as MTV, Comedy Central, TBS, USA, etc... as well as new channels like the BBC and the History Channel, The Learning Channel and several others.
You also get the option of getting information about whatever you're watching, similar to having a TV Guide right on the screen. You can also go into a block listing mode where you can see 8 or so channels at once for a two hour span, just like the TV listings in the local paper.
The music channels are actually something I listen to quite a bit. In the mood for Jazz? You've got Jazz Traditions and Contemporary Jazz Flavors to choose from, all commercial free with no talk ever. Just music. It' very relaxing.
I would never think of going back to cable now.
Granted, there is still the let down of having to pick up local channels through an antenna, but you learn to deal with it. And there's legislation going on right now to let satellite dish companies provide local channels as well.
I would recommend the Dish Network to anyone who asked me my two cents worth.
