I have the Dishplayer 7100 unit. The newer 7200 unit is the same except you have longer recording time. This is a great system for the combination of satellite tv viewing and digital recording like Tivo without any additional equipment needed. Some people have pulled the hard drive and replaced it with a 30-40 gig drive to get more recording time. You can record 4 -4 1/2 hours on this system. Another great feature is you can pause any tv show.
The pause feature works for 30 mins. while you are watching any show. Also there are a few free games included like YOU Dont know jack. You need the optional wireless keyboard for this feature. Buy the keyboard at walmart or ebay to save some money. The negatives-I have one receiver in my living room and one in the bedroom. I must pull the power for the receiver in my bedroom nightly. If you leave the plug in the wall- the receiver will boot up at 3-4 AM and start downloading show information. The hard drive is noisy and it may wake you up. I cant understand why they cant do these downloads at a more reasonable hour.
You can also use the MSN Webtv with this system. The cost at 24.00 is not cheap and I am not a huge fan of Webtv anyway. You can watch a show that you have recorded while recording another show but cannot watch a LIVE show and record something else on another channel. Skip through the commercials easily with this system...
