| tvlxpert's Full Review: Infinity RS-1 |
These little guys simply amazed me. I bought them (and my RS-3's) off uBid several months ago... they sound awesome! Very clean, crisp highs, and excellent tight bass response... they fill the room with sound - you don't "hear" the speakers... it's as though the music just "appears" in the room.
They're comparable in size and specs to the Bose 201 speakers, but having heard both, I much prefer the Infinities.. the Bose sound tinny (as in like tin, not small!) and their imaging is not as good. Both the RS-1 and RS-3 speakers are built solid of *real* wood... I have the Cherry colored speakers.. they also come in black. Wood is ashe.
I should mention these will certainly suffice as front main speakers as well as rears, but paired with RS-3's as front speakers, they're awesome. All of the RS series speakers are voice matched and shielded (along with the CC-series center channels). What this means is apparent volume and tone of the sound will be the same, and saves having to constantly balance the level between your front and rear speakers. The only drawback is that they're not terribly efficient... rated minimum is 10 watts... but I haven't actually noticed any problem with that (my receiver is 100w/channel) and they sound great played loud or at very low volumes. All in all, these are an amazing value!
