| pimju's Full Review: Kanguru KanguruCD MP3 Player |
I bought two of these MP3/CD players. The first one would not register a disk as loaded (all disks -- commercial music cd, home made music cd, and MP3 files in folders). The second had intermittent failures in the audio out jack (jumping from stereo to mono with every minor bump on the male plug). Unfortunately there was no volume control on the speaker out jack.
I would love to see this device improve the display size, and to hold MP3 file details in static ram. Folders and tracks are tagged numerically, you'll need to remember what music is on your disk(s) or enjoy a game of hit or miss. Every time you turn the machine on and off, you have to wait for the folders and file details to be read, very similar to booting a computer only faster. But movement between tracks is intuitive and rapid.
This is none the less a great first effort. This machine will give you tremendous play time on a single disk. It did not skip, and showed less digital distortion artifacts (from scratches and dust) than I get on my mundane portable cd player. It is also priced well in comparison to a mundane portable.
If you listen to music in large uninterrupted blocks of time (long car, truck, or plane trips) this machine is for you.
